Isabelle Charles is a Massachusetts native with Caribbean roots. She graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in 2023, where she studied Africana Studies and English. She is a former Presidential Writer and Special Assistant in the Biden-Harris White House. She writes with an eye toward the cultural, the historical, and the deeply human.

Her work explores how we create and carry culture—through food, language, literature, and collective memory. With particular interests in the Black diaspora and Caribbean storytelling, she moves between prose and, on occasion, poetry. She is drawn to stream-of-consciousness voices and to stories that honor resilience and the quiet moments that shape who we are. When not writing, she can often be found reading in the sun, baking decadent sweets, and convincing her friends to walk with her everywhere and anywhere.
